New Moon in Virgo

September 7, 2010

New Moon - yvette Soler - Inspirations from BinahAs the New Moon in Virgo appears on the horizon, the pull to stop and listen today was so strong that I awoke with no power in my flat, plus my phone, even though I charged it yesterday and had not used it, somehow completely ran out of battery (plus it only has about a 2 euro balance anyway – I need to get better about remembering to top up my phone).  I had work to be done online, a french lesson via Skype scheduled for the afternoon and no way to reach anyone, even if there was an emergency.  A small sense of panic started to stir.

Even though I spend much time alone, it is not the same as being unable to reach out and contact someone when you want to.  The path before me looked lonely and daunting at first, but I took a deep breath and discovered that it was actually quite easy to navigate if I stayed calmed and read the signs:

Normally, I put my computer into sleep mode at night which drains my battery a little bit, but last night for some reason I hibernated it so I had a full battery in the morning.  Using said battery, I was able to charge my phone enough to get a text message out to a friend and tell her that I may not be able to meet her in the afternoon because of what was going on.  This is a friend that normally works all week and had coincidentally taken 2 days off work because she had a problem in her flat that only ended up taking one day to fix which left one day for us to get together before my upcoming teaching tour.

Luckily, in Europe, incoming calls and text messages are free, so she responded almost immediately and told me to come over now, that I could do all I needed to do at her place.  Now you have to understand that since moving to Europe I have made friends, but not until recently did I have any in the city that I actually have a close enough relationship with that they would rush to my aid in my time of need.  Actually, having friends like that in any city is a relatively new development for me.  It is something I have actively been working on the last few years – creating healthy friendships.   I ran out of my flat and jumped on the metro while my roommate stayed home and dealt with the whole power thing.  Thanks to my friend, I didn’t miss a beat and was able to accomplish what I had planned, plus spend some quality time with her and her young son.

The whole experience brought to light some feelings about being completely out of touch that I know I have to work through – more cords to cut.  At the same time showed me that I have finally created the network of friendships I’ve always wanted in life.  The thing is, when you have that type of network, you are never really alone because someone will always come looking for you.  And in a spiritual sense, I never feel alone anyway; I always know I am being well taken care of.  It was that feeling of being protected that lead me to look around this morning and see the steps I needed to take.  When I gave myself a chance to breath, I found that I was being guide right into the loving hug of someone genuinely wanting to help me.

Now instead of panic, my heart swells with gratitude.  Thank you New Moon and the lovely Mountain Sprite Mara!

Can faith expunge the desire?

September 3, 2010

Last night, I asked the Universe for a sign.  I thought I was being very deliberate in my words, stating exactly what I need to see.  This morning an answer arrived, but it leaves me more perplexed.  The confusion does not arise from my mind, it comes from my heart.  My mind is set.  It sees the landscape and understands the road ahead, thought it is not attached to the destination, but the heart is not so easily swayed.  It holds tight to its desires.

So where is my faith?  Faith is a strong belief in a power beyond your own.  Faith says that no matter what happens, I believe it is what is best.  You see, I have faith, but the heart is trying to undermine my resolve.  Cords to expectations have been cut, the mind has released hope, but the heart still desires.  It desires something that cannot be right now.  I have faith that patiently continuing on this path will lead to happiness, though I do not know what that happiness looks like, but if faith tells me this is the right path, then why does desire create so much doubt?

And there lies my confusion.  Together, the mind and heart work to balance the emotions.  The thing is, which one is right?  Is my heart is telling me that what I desire is what I should go after, or should I trust my mind which says that right now what I desire is not for me?  Faith attempts to create a layer of peace, but the tug-o-war between the heart and mind has the emotions running overtime.  One minute, the mind’s logic calms the waters and continues forward movement, and the next the heart’s desires take over causing rough seas that suspend all travel.

The questions I ask myself are:

“How do you tell if the desire is a warning flag vs. a cord that must be cut?”

and

“If there is faith that the path is right, is there a way to expunge the desire?”

I gather up my tools, set my sacred space and call in my Higher Self:

  • Gardenia incense burns, sending my questions to the Universe and asking for revelation of new knowledge.
  • Snowflake Obsidian soothes so that I may clearly see cords to patterns of behavior that may need to be cut.
  • Unikite provides balance between emotions and spirituality, gently releasing conditions that inhibit spiritual and psychological growth.
  • Carnelian grounds me into the present reality and imparts an acceptance of the cycle of life.
  • Lapis Lazuli releases stress, brings deep peace and harmonizes physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.
  • Stone from Montserrat to ground and integrate all I receive.

Into meditation I go, open to all that will be revealed.  May the answers dispel the doubt and reinforce my faith…

· Stone from Montserrat to ground and integrate all I receive.

The Need for Places to Gather

September 2, 2010

As an American living in Europe, I am often asked what I see as the biggest differences between N. America and Europe. While there are obviously many political and cultural differences, the one that affects me the most are the social norms. Spanish culture in particular, which is now “home”, is very social. I would take that a step further and say that it still honors an ancient social culture that is centered around gathering with friends and family as often as possible.

Shopping is still done in small market areas. Sure, there are bigger super markets and malls scattered here and there, but that is not where most of the population goes. You go to the corner butcher, fish market, produce stand and so forth. These shopping areas are usually centered around a plaza so that the children can play, the older generation can sit on benches and talk, adolescents and 20-somethings can sit at a cafe and the parents can walk around, hand-in-hand, doing the shopping. It takes longer than going through a supermarket, but interacting with the world around you becomes part of the process.

Plaza en Valencia

It is very common for a person in Spain to work all day and instead of going straight home, go out with friends for a drink. Not several drinks or a rowdy night on the town, just one drink where you sit in a plaza or patio and talk about life. Because it is not a tip culture, you can sit in one place for several hours talking and watching the world go by. Around 21 h (9pm), you say good-bye to your friends and go home for dinner and some well deserved sleep.

Of course you don’t do this every night, but I would say you do it weekly, and in some circles, several times a week. Whether you are shopping, walking around the neighborhood or having some tapas, the point is that you are interacting. When I first arrived in Europe I was mesmerized by all the different cultures I saw doing this. Germany, Austria, England, Holland… while they each have their unique social norms, on average, I find that they gather much more often than I ever did in N. America.

So the question on my mind is, “why?” And I think that James Howard Kunstler hit the nail on the head in his brilliant TED talk – America is a nation of places not worth caring about; we have no public spaces to gather in!

In the US, houses are large and, supposedly, made for entertaining. Living rooms and dining rooms and play rooms… all the space you need to gather. The thing is, if everyone has a wonderful home, why would anyone ever leave to go to another person’s home? Each person wants you to come to their house because it is more convenient or spacious or whatever other excuse they can come up with.

When you try to pick a neutral location, you find that there is no where to go. Parks often don’t have benches, restaurants kick you out as soon as you finish drinking your tea, and coffee shops are blaring music so loud you can’t hear each other. While I find time home alone extremely valuable in my personal development, I also know that time with friends and family is equally important. I would love to gather up my closest friends, go for a walk and sit on a bench in front of a beautiful building with some fruit we picked up at the corner store. Not only will the interaction bring much needed reflection and sharing of knowledge, watching those around us will add depth to all that we experience, for there is so much to learn through simple observation.

Source sends us messages in many ways. Next time you’re trying to figure out what to do on a Saturday afternoon, instead of going to a dark movie theatre or staying home to watch TV, gather up the family and go do something that interacts with the rest of the world. If you open yourself to a new experience, you may just learn something you never expected.

Enjoying the “unusual” life

August 21, 2010

I forget at times that my life is not what you would call “normal”. I am a Cuban-American living in Spain who has spent time living in Miami, Boston, Seattle, London, Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, Madrid, Lisboa, Barcelona… I speak fluent English and Spanish, which means I enjoy the richness of several cultures. I have a history in the arts, including music, software, circus and electronic dance parties. Add to that the fact that I teach about Practical Spirituality and Magick… and well, you have an interesting background to pull from.

Museu d'Arquologia de Catalunya

I think it is because of this that I don’t realize how unusual my daily experiences can be. A few days ago I took my roommate (who is a wonderful main-stream woman from Ecuador) to visit a client at the Museu d’Arquologia de Catalunya (Archeological Museum). My client is eccentric. He is a fantastic burst of energy that is well versed in Hermetic studies, Spanish politics and Traffic, as he used to specialize in eliminating congestion problems in the transportation department. Every time I see him, he is fill with new ideas about how to improve the world. He speaks a mile-a-minute and can jump from one subject to the next, weaving a thread that may be imperceptible at first, but always shows itself in the end.

As we sat on the couches of this lovely museum, he began explaining how a Tarot reading he received showed him that I entered his life to fulfill the role of great spiritual teacher and kept gushing to others about a Practical Kabbalah talk I gave a few months back. He’s been working through a set of obstacles over the last year and feels confident that he is finally reaching the end of that journey. It makes me smile to see his changes since his DNA Activation. He is extremely focused and positive, which is a sharp contrast to the person he was when we first started working together.

life roadblocks He rattled off a bunch of ideas for new projects, overcoming life roadblocks, things he wants to learn and how he is moving forward. My roommate sat there speechless. She is slowly finding her own spiritual path and having this person so openly talk about his blending of spirituality and life was shocking, in an encouraging way. You see, his ideas are all around taking the Hermetic Principles and Kabbalah and putting them into practice. He wants people to have access to physical and energetic methods of working through problems. His ideas are marvelous and I am excited to see him manifest them.

At his request, we were given a guided tour of the museum, which was fantastic since it is a gorgeous place (an how often to do you get a personal tour of a museum?). In the middle of the tour, we were interrupted because one my client’s co-workers wanted guidance. My roommate went off with my client while the coworker and I spoke for about half an hour about an etheric/emotional cord he has that needs to be cut. We discussed the root of the cord and ways to cut it in this lifetime. These types of impromptu sessions seem to happen to me frequently, which is why I created Your Spiritual Discussion.

During that time, my roommate had a chance to ask questions of my client that, until now, she had only been able to ask me. She was fascinated by his frank answers about seeing beyond the physical, hermetic thought, emotional freedom and more. What to me is everyday conversation, to her was something usually only discussed behind closed doors, if at all.

Librería Mandrágora We left the museum together, continuing our fluid discussions until we reached the metro where my roommate and I continued on to some esoteric bookstores and lunch, and my client headed home. I won’t even begin to tell you what it was like to go through an esoteric bookstore with someone that is just beginning her spiritual awakening. ;)

Needless to say, it was a fantastic day had by all: I got to see the world through fresh eyes; her veils became a little more transparent. I was reminded of how blessed I am and said a prayer of gratitude to Source for all the people that cross my path. It is through others that I learn my greatest lessons.

In deep appreciation of interaction

August 3, 2010

There are many people that have come and gone in my life. Each had a lesson to share, a moment in time when a single experience redefined action. While in some cases the exchange was all too brief, the knowledge remains. Capturing words through my corporeal senses, I bring their meaning deep into my heart through my soul senses. Ten perfect ways to perceive – a melding of the physical and spiritual.

In times of need, I can reach into my heart and pull out a lesson, playing it on the movie screen of my mind. Tonight, I snuggle in for a marathon of short films. There will be laughter and tears, moments of great introspection and release, but most of all, I will be left with gratitude. A prayer to the Universe marks my deep appreciation for every exchange with another human being, for it is the sum of those experiences that makes me who I am. Thank you for sharing.

Practical Environmental Advice

June 1, 2010

East Staffordshire Borough CouncilIf you could give a person two practical tips for helping the environment, something he/she could go home tonight and do, what would it be? Obvious ones include recycling or composting, but how do you teach someone to do that in a few quick steps? What if the person lives in an area that does not do curbside recycling, how do you teach them the benefits of separating your items and finding a recycling center nearby? Alternative power, fuel-efficient cars… all those are great ideas, but they usually require time and money. What can you do within your own home or neighborhood that requires ingenuity and manpower?

A New Paradigm of Partnership
by Divine Harmony

Divine Harmony

Inner and Outer Union Work

There is a new paradigm of partnership that is being birthed right now and there are many who are being called to step up and midwife it by bringing it into their conscious experience and living it by example. These are the way showers for others who feel called down the road to do this inner and outer Union work. And it truly is work- of the Soul/Spirit variety. For those who have been conditioned to believe that relationship is based on security, ownership and fusion- this kind of relationship will necessarily shatter the foundations upon which they have built much of their understanding of love and partnership. Yet there are many who have been feeling the pull to explore this, to understand this, and to experience this. This comes from an inner yearning and resonance that there is something else that is True that has not yet been fully

As within, So Without – Adventures In Conscious Consuming and Other Tales
by Helen Davis
vogue2helendavis

The week before my Amalfi Coast wedding I packed my suitcase. The flat was strewn with outfits for every conceivable eventuality and yet, still, I felt I had nothing to wear. This seemed ironic given that I’d spent the last two years searching for the holy grail of style: the capsule wardrobe. I was convinced clarity would banish confusion once I owned this small selection of interchangeable garments. So I spent the time I was meant to be writing a novel – yeah, right! – procrastinating by way of the nation’s ‘favourite pastime’ – shopping.

I’d heard ‘we wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time’

Inspirations From Binah
by yvette Soler

What Is My Soul’s Purpose?

Inspirations from Binah:

A: Our soul begins at birth; as we enter the physical, it is individuated from the group soul collective. It is the bridge between our Spiritual self, who we have always been and will always be, and the physical self, who we are now. As we travel through our journey in the physical, it is always there, providing the mechanism of consciousness that keeps us connected with our spiritual centre. The energy flows through our Crown chakra, keeping us plugged in to the world beyond by way of the Elements, Aura, Ether, Magnetism and Dimensions: 5 additional senses that are accessed through the soul/body connection.

As it is individuated from a group soul, your soul has a purpose of its own. Though they are interrelated, it is important to recognise that it will not be necessarily be the same as your purpose in…read more

I seek to learn that I may Serve

February 25, 2010

I am lost in the vast ocean, with no way to navigate into the Light. I look at my maps, hoping the right course will manifest, but all that stretches before me is endless sky and sea. I listen to the Universe in hopes that the path will be found. I am standing at the bow with not even a navigational star in sight. How do I find my way?

The passage above was written at the very beginning of my journey. I knew there was an unseen world, but I had neither the tools nor knowledge to find it. Once I declared to the Universe that I was ready to receive, my first of many guides stepped into my life.

When people ask me why I teach, the answer only requires a reading of that passage. I teach because I want to offer you what I was offered so long ago. I provide personalized services because each of us has a unique journey and so often “One Size” does not fit all. I speak and write to let you know that you are not alone and provide strength to seek what you need. In short, I do what I do because I am in Service.

Next week I begin a two month journey that will take me to five cities in North America and then back across the ocean to Europe. I will be teaching classes, meeting with clients and working with my private students at a distance. If you feel called to acquire new tools for your personal journey, you have only to ask.
