Who/What is Binah?
Kabbalah is not just a spiritual philosophy. It is a practical spiritual approach to self-discovery, manifestation, problem-solving, spiritual awakening, personal growth, and making dreams come true. Those who study and practice Kabbalah are interested in living a spiritual adventure in addition to gaining spiritual knowledge.
In Kabbalah, there are 10 archetypal energies that are the basis of all creation, from the heavens to the earth. These power sources are represented visually via the Tree of Life. The Tree is the soul of this tradition. It is the basis for meditation exercises, inner visions, associations with other systems, cosmology and anthropology. It represents the ideal balance of the aspects of human personality and the relationship of Man to Source – a blueprint to who we are today, what we have within us and what we can become tomorrow.
Binah is the 3rd energy source, known as a sephirah. She sits at the top of the feminine pillar and represents “Understanding”. Binah is processed wisdom, what we get to when we fully understand something and are able to use this understanding. She is Aima, the Mother, and the entire world is seen as her child. An easy visual is to picture the grandmother that takes a youngster on her knee to provide a life lesson learned through experience.
You call on Binah when you want to reach a deep level of Understanding, to bring Spirituality and Peace, and to ultimately lead you to the integration of what you have learned. She wraps you in her arms when you seek the highest level of yourself, giving you the tools to comprehend what you have learned from her consort, the Grand Father of Wisdom, Chokmah.
